Roma in the group stages as they bid to go further than last term’s round of 16 exit.
Bayern and CSKA provide familiar opposition in a partial re-run of last year’s draw, but Begiristain believes Roma, drawn from pot 4, will be a stern test for the rest of the group.
Begiristain said of City’s Champions League opponents: “Last season Bayern Munich were first, we were second and we also played CSKA Moscow, but the fourth one was very tough, a very strong team in Roma.
“All the clubs try to play good football, Roma have done very well and we are familiar with Bayern Munich. It will be an amazing group.”
Begiristain is not taking anything for granted, but says the City squad are ready to fight on all fronts at home and abroad as they seek further trophy success.
He declared: “We are happy with the squad that we have now for this season and we are ready again to fight for everything.
“I think for all of us it is the aim is to try and improve. After finishing the season you analyse what you have done and you try to do better. We have signed some very good players and the aim is to improve in the Champions League, we will try to go further.
“It is always the same pressure. We are a team that always try to win every game, to play well and to give joy to our supporters, not just in the domestic league but in Europe as well.”
