However the Chilean was quick to point out that there are still a huge number of points up for grabs between teams fighting for the Premier League crown:
“All teams at the top will drop points. I said that at the start of the season. There are five or six teams fighting for the title. The difference is two points, the same as last week, and there are 39 to play for and we will win as many of them as we can.
“We must try to play the way we were two weeks ago.”
When pressed as to whether the Blues were still suffering from the affects of Monday night’s home defeat to Chelsea, Pellegrini believes the injuries to his side had more of a bearing on today’s result:
“I don’t think we were affected by the Chelsea result. I think the team was more affected by everyone not being 100% fit.
“Alvaro has had a problem with his shoulder for the past three weeks. It’s important for us that he can recover 100%.”
Despite dominating possession for long stretches at Carrow Road, a precious goal evaded the Blues as they drew blank in the Premier League in consecutive games for the first time since January 2012.
Although Norwich went close in the dying embers, Pellegrini thought his side could and should have claimed victory:
The home team can have chances in 93 minutes and Norwich had theirs at the end of the game. We had three or four before that but didn’t score.

City take on Sunderland in the Premier League on Wednesday 12 February in what will be a dress rehearsal for the Capital One Cup Final in March.
