Stevan Jovetic is champing at the bit to play in City’s first friendly of pre-season against Dundee.

The Blues open their summer programme against the Scottish Championship title holders.

With a large crowd expected at Dens Park, Jovetic believes The Dark Blues will provide the prefect test for City who began training at St Andrews on Thursday.

“Scotland is nice and we are very happy with the training base but I haven’t seen as much of the area as I’d like because during pre-season, you tend to spend a lot of time in your room resting between training.

“We’re doing three sessions a day at the moment and everything is going well; the training is enjoyable and we have our first match against Dundee on Sunday.

“Obviously, there’s nothing like competitive matches to sharpen your fitness so we can’t wait to play the game because it’s the first real step towards the beginning of the season and each game will have a part to play in our overall preparations.”

Dundee, preparing for life in the top-flight, will aim to get the scalp of the English Premier League champions as their own pre-season preparations continue, but Jovetic says City are looking to begin with a victory.

“We take every game seriously, whether it’s a friendly or not,” he said.

We have a winning mentality at the club and we expect to win because we expect to win every game we play

...Jovetic..

“We’ll go for the victory and try to play the best football we can. Of course, some of our squad are not here because of the World Cup but we know there will be a good crowd and quite a few City fans here, too.

“It should be a good test and we are looking forward to this game and then Hearts next Friday.”
