Aguero was substituted at half-time in the midweek Champions League clash with Barcelona but Pellegrini disclosed that the striker will be assessed in the next 24 hours to determine the length of time he will be sidelined.
“Tomorrow, we will know exactly the extent of Aguero’s injury,” he asserted. “We do not know exactly what is wrong. He will be out for more than one week but I don’t think it is very serious.
“I hope that he will only be out for a couple of weeks.”
Speaking ahead of the Premier League game against Hull, Pellegrini also revealed that Stevan Jovetic and Matija Nastasic are still unavailable but the pair could make a return next week, whilst Micah Richards is suffering with an injury.
The Chilean also reflected on the defeat at the Nou Camp, stating: “Barcelona is the best team in the world. We lost 2-0 at home so it was very difficult to qualify. Being 2-0 down and with Barcelona having so much possession of the ball, it was difficult for us.
“In the first leg, the penalty and the sending-off changed the game but those things can happen. I said at the time it was not easy for the referee because the penalty incident was very near our box but unfortunately, it happened.
“In the second leg, we didn’t get a penalty and the referee sent off Pablo Zabaleta but we only had ten minutes to score three goals. I’m not talking about the referee from that match.”
With City’s sole focus now on the Premier League title, Pellegrini asserted that the Blues will need to try to win each of their remaining games to have any chance of reclaiming the crown.
“We must try to fight,” he said. “It is not only Chelsea [that are competing] – there is also Arsenal and Liverpool and they will fight until the end. Maybe Tottenham are far away at this moment but this is a very close Premier League.
“We need to win all the games from now until the end of the season. The game against Hull is special because we have less than 72 hours to recover but it is a chance to see our mentality.
“The amount of games we’ve played in the last month is very high so the positive now is that we can focus on the Premier League. It is so important to win on Saturday.”
Finally, when asked of the possibility that Jack Rodwell could leave the club on loan, Pellegrini replied: “No, Jack will continue here. Unfortunately, he has had injuries this season but he will stay.”
