City will be looking to break a club record of consecutive top-flight wins on Saturday when they face newly promoted side Watford.

Goals from Aleksandar Kolarov and a delightful chip from Samir Nasri gave City a 2-0 victory against Everton at Goodison Park last time out - their ninth consecutive top-flight win, a record not matched since 1912.

But Watford will be no easy task- they’re the ninth promoted side to remain unbeaten in their opening three League games but are still in search of their first league win after a draw in each.

The Hornets have been busy in the transfer window with a massive 12 new signings arriving at Vicarage Road, most noticeably Edison Capoue from Tottenham and Swiss International Valon Behrami from Hamburg on a 3-year deal.

The last time the teams met in the league was back in 2006/2007 where both fixtures ended in a draw.

Key Quotes

Manuel Pellegrini:  “It is a difficult game because they have played three games in the Premier League and have drawn them all. They have a good manager and good players and the greatest mistake we can make in this moment is to think because we have won the last three games we will win the next one.

“We must play in the same way with the same concentration and intensity. The only way to do that is to think only about Watford, so I don’t want to answer any questions about the other competitions.

“I told all the players that we must talk about the Champions League draw after they come back from the international break.

“We must understand that to play against Watford is the same as against Chelsea, Arsenal or Manchester United. All of them are in the Premier League and if you play with less intensity then everything can go wrong, so it is important to continue playing in the same way as we have been and not to make the same mistakes as we did last year.”

Sergio Aguero: “Quique Sanchez Flores and I took part of a superb era for Atletico de Madrid, with one of the highlights being the Europa League triumph in 2010 against Roy Hodgson’s Fulham.

“Quique knew how to lead the group very well,” added Aguero. “He’s an industrious manager who knows how to put the qualities of his players to good use.

“I was glad when I learned he was coming over to the Premier League and this Saturday I’ll have a chance to catch up with him once more and greet him when we play against Watford.

“Of course, on this occasion we’ll be on opposing sides but I hope it’s a good match and, of course, that we are able to win it. After that, I hope Quique has a great season with Watford.”

Quique Sanchez Flores: “It’s very difficult to play against this kind of team [City] that has a lot of players that can make a difference.

“In this case we need to be confident and try to keep the style we’ve managed since the beginning of the competition. We have reason to be confident and happy because it’s not easy to start in any competition at a new level.

“To stop them of course it’s going to be very difficult, but I prefer to talk about the collective and not just individual players of Manchester City. They have a fantastic team and we will have to all work together in order to give ourselves a chance.”

On David Silva and Sergio Aguero: “I always look back at the players that I have trained in my career, and both Aguero and Silva are at the very top.

“I will always remember the first time I saw David Silva train when I was at Valencia. He made a huge impression on me and became a very important player for us.

It is the same with Aguero when I was at Atletico. He is a very special player and a totally different striker. Sergio was key to us in helping the team to win trophies.

“I think both players can still improve. They are at a good age and at the right stage to have many more successful years ahead in their careers.”
