The La Liga giants last took on the Blues in 2012/13 with the Blues coming within a whisker of a famous victory at the Bernabeu with goals from Edin Dzeko and Aleksandar Kolarov giving Roberto Mancini’s side a 2-1 lead with just five minutes to go – only for Madrid to score two late goals and clinch a thrilling 3-2 victory.
The teams later met at the Etihad Stadium, drawing 1-1.
The majority of players return from their summer break on Monday with those involved at Copa America joining the squad later.
