Patrick Roberts was left to rue a missed opportunity in a dramatic defeat for Celtic in the Old Firm match on Sunday.

The City winger missed a great chance to convert a rebound off the post during the first half of the Scottish Cup semi-final against bitter rivals Rangers, which the Bhoys went on to lose on penalties.

“With the chance, I should have scored it. There are no excuses for that,” reflected the 19-year-old, who nonetheless could learn from playing the full 120 minutes of one of the most famous fixtures in world football.

Midfielder Jack Byrne could not prevent struggling Cambuur from slipping to a 2-1 defeat at NEC Nijmegen. The Irishman’s side are stuck in last place in Eredivisie, and with three games to go getting to safety may just be a bridge too far.

Better news for City loanees elsewhere in the Netherlands, especially Enes Unal. The Turkish striker scored four goals in two outings last week – a hat-trick in NAC Breda’s 4-1 win over Telstar (which you can see below), and another in the 5-2 victory over PSV II. Midfielder Divine Naah also featured in both fixtures.

Defender Jason Denayer played for Galatasaray in the Istanbul derby, a 0-0 draw with Fenerbahce, but was not called upon for a 4-2 defeat at Antalayaspor at the weekend.

Midfielder Seko Fofana came on for the last 27 minutes of Bastia’s 1-0 loss to St Etienne, while in Spain, Florian Lejeune completed 90 minutes in Girona’s 1-0 win over Deportivo Alaves, with Pablo Maffeo coming on for the last 19.

In Norway, Bismark Adjei-Boateng completed Stromsgodset’s 2-1 win over Sogndal, but Chidiebere Nwakali and IK Start were on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline away at Odd.
