City had a busy day on Transfer Deadline Day – though it was all out-going business rather than incomings.
Pep Guardiola had already admitted he wouldn’t be bringing in any other players after the capture of Claudio Bravo and instead focused on trimming his senior squad down.
There has been plenty of speculation regarding a number of our players in recent days but official confirmation only came during the final day of the summer transfer window.
Joe Hart’s loan deal to Torino was first to break at 12pm Wednesday morning with the England goalkeeper joining the Serie A on a season-long loan deal.
Hart said of the deal: “Torino’s offer came at the right moment for me, in the right manner, and I’m very excited to test myself in an important and beautiful league such as Serie A.
“Everyone knows the history of goalkeepers in Italy, and I’m sure I can learn in Torino. That’s why I accepted President Cairo’s proposal.”
Next up was Wilfried Bony’s season-long loan move to Stoke City, announced at 1pm.
The Ivorian has not featured in Guardiola’s squad so far this season and had slipped behind Kelechi Iheanacho as the second choice to Sergio Aguero.
Bony, who thanked the City fans for their support, is likely to get plenty of game-time with Mark Hughes’ Potters.
Samir Nasri’s season-long loan to Sevilla was confirmed at 2.15pm – the French playmaker tweeted: “Man. City – it’s been a pleasure. Thanks to everyone at the Club and the fans. It’s been an amazing five years and wish you best of luck for this season.”
Nasri came on for the last 15 minutes of the 3-1 win over West Ham at the weekend and twice went close to signing off this campaign with City with a goal.
Eliaquim Mangala was the fourth high profile exit of the day in a deal announced at 5pm. The France international has made 64 appearances for the Blues since joining from Porto in 2015, but has not started a game this season.
He, like Nasri, will play the rest of the 2016/17 season in La Liga after joining Valencia on loan.
Jason Denayer is another central defender on the move after the 21 year-old Belgian agreed a season loan deal with fellow Premier League side Sunderland.
The Belgium international has previously had successful loan spells with Celtic and Galatasaray but will test his skills this season in England’s top flight – his was the last high profile loan of the day for the Blues.
Elsewhere, defender Shay Facey will add vital experience to his game by switching to SC Heerenveen for the season.
Facey has spent time on loan with New York City FC and Rotherham United and the 21 year-old defender will hope to impress in the Dutch Eredivisie this campaign.
Another U-23 youngster who will spend the season elsewhere is Kean Bryan who has moved to Bury on loan.
City brought in Ilkay Gundogan, Leroy Sane, Bravo, John Stones, Marlos Moreno, Nolito, Oleks Zinchenko, Aaron Mooy and Gabriel Jesus over the summer.
