Pep Guardiola’s men will take on Steaua Bucharest for the right to contest the group stages for a sixth-successive season.

The most successful Romanian club in history, Steaua reached the play-off rounds with victory over Sparta Prague and play in the 55,000 capacity Arena Nationala.

Managed by Laurentiu Reghecampf, Bucharest finished as runners-up in Romania’s Liga I last season and last won the title in 2014/15.

Our opponents have some serious Champions League pedigree, having won the European Cup once back in 1985/86 and they also finished as runners-up in 1988/89.

Steaua will be aiming to reach the group stages for the first time since the 2013/14 season when they finished bottom of a group containing Basel, Chelsea and Schalke, ending Group E with three points.

The first leg will be played away from home on 16/17 August, with the return match at the Etihad Stadium on 23/24 August and you can follow all the build-up on mancity.com.

Confirmed dates and ticket details to follow in due course.
