City have been handed a double fitness boost for the Capital One Cup final.

Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed that Wilfried Bony and Jesus Navas are both available for selection after their lay-offs.

The boss also brushed away any concerns about the conditions of Vincent Kompany, Bacary Sagna and Raheem Sterling after the trio trained away from their teammates on Friday morning.

Pellegrini told journalists: “Sagna, Kompany and Sterling are recovering separately after the game but I hope the three of them will be fit.

“Mangala, Navas and Bony are training normally and are available for selection.

“For everyone, Wembley is one of the most important stadiums in the world. To play a final there creates a different atmosphere.

“It’s a special thing. That’s why I respect every cup so much.”

City defeated Dynamo Kyiv 3-1 in midweek to put the Blues in with a great chance of reaching the last eight of the UEFA Champions League.

Pellegrini has now targeted the first available silverware of the season and has admitted that lifting the trophy could lend the squad an important psychological advantage in the remaining months of the Premier League season.

“It’s a very important week - as you said, we won the first leg but it’s not finished even though that was an important result playing away and now we hope to qualify at home,” Pellegrini declared.

“To play a big final at Wembley against Liverpool is very important too. It’s my mentality to try to win all the time.

“To win in February one title that gives you a lot of trust to continue fighting for other competitions.

“We are six points behind the leaders in the Premier League and we will continue to fight to the end - this could give us a lot of trust if we are successful on Sunday.”

City lost 4-1 to Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium in December but Manuel is hoping it will be different this time around.

He added: “Liverpool made a  very good game here at the Etihad but we made a lot of mistakes in the first 15 minutes.”
