1975
City secure a 2-1 home win against Everton at Maine Road in Division One with 44,718 in attendance.
First-half goals from Colin Bell and Dennis Tueart give City a 2-0 lead, but Mickey Horswill puts through his own net to ensure a tense finish as the Blues eventually overcame the Toffees. The win lifts City to sixth in the table moving into the final 11 games of the season and Tony Book’s side eventually finish eighth.
1986
The Blues run out 2-0 winners against Queen Park Rangers at Maine Road - result that consolidates City’s mid-table position heading into the final stretch of the season. Goals from Paul Simpson and Gordon Davies. The result marked City’s seventh win at home that season but too many points dropped away from home lead to a disappointing 16th place finish for Billy McNeill’s men.
1997
Southend are at the end of a 3-0 defeat to City on this day in 1997 with Georgi Kinkladze in inspired form. The game was played during what would ultimately prove to be a disappointing Division One campaign and Uwe Rosler’s brace plus a superb Kinkladze strike saw off The Shrimpers. The win left the Blues in 20th position and 14th spot was eventually secured.

2004
Birmingham City hold out for a dour 0-0 draw as Kevin Keegan’s side continue to labour. Ultimately it was Maik Taylor, Birmingham’s goalkeeper, who kept it goalless. The result left City without a win in 13 Premier League fixtures. Keegan said after the game: “We had enough chances to have won several games. Our performances have been better than our results, which is a fact”.
