That means, following a year-break, City will renew rivalries with the Tigers in the 2016/17 season.

The Last Time…

Hull didn’t miss out on their visit to the Etihad Stadium last season, though perhaps they wish they had…
Bruce’s men were drawn against City in the Capital One Cup in December 2015 but were sent packing with an emphatic 4-1 defeat.
Goals from Wilfried Bony, Kelechi Iheanacho and a brace from Kevin De Bruyne did the damage for a win which put the Blues well on the road to Wembley.
Andrew Robertson gave the travelling supporters something to shout about with a consolation goal in stoppage-time but the Yorkshire side will hope for better when they visit next season.
One to remember…
City 5-1 Hull, 26/12/08
A match that will be remembered for more than the lopsided scoreline in City’s favour.
Phil Brown’s now-legendary half-time team talk on the pitch is undoubtedly the enduring image of the day as the then-Hull boss took his team to task in front of a bewildered Etihad Stadium.
The cause of his ire? The 4-0 lead City had raced into thanks to a brace apiece from Felipe Caicedo and Robinho.
Things didn’t improve for the Tigers much after the break as Craig Fagan reduced the deficit on 80 minutes, only for Stevie Ireland to restore the home side’s four-goal advantage two minutes later.
One to forget…
City 1-1 Hull, 7/2/15
You have to go back to the eighties for a defeat to Hull but this draw in 2014/15 felt like one.
City were well below their best in this Etihad Stadium clash and only got out of jail thanks to a last-minute James Milner free-kick.
Hull held the lead from the 35th minute when David Meyler scored and Bruce’s side looked home and hosed until Milner came up with the goods late on.
It spared City’s blushes but it was seen as a missed opportunity in Manuel Pellegrini’s quest to gun down leaders Chelsea.
One we both love…
Geovanni
His stay in Manchester was brief but Brazilian forward Geovanni cemented his place in club folklore after only a month.
After turning down Portsmouth for the chance to link up with new City boss Sven Goran Eriksson, Geovanni scored on his debut against West Ham before netting the winner against Manchester United a week later.
Not a bad start…
He would go on to play 20 times that season before he joined up with Hull for their debut season in the Premier League.
Once again, Geo wasted no time in ingratiating himself to his new supporters, scoring the Tigers’ first-ever Premier League goal on his debut against Fulham in 2008 and earning the Man of the Match award.
He finished the season as the club’s top scorer as they narrowly avoided relegation and made a similarly flying start to his second season, although his form would tail off as Hull succumbed to the drop.
