Jack Byrne continues to impress on loan at Cambuur, despite their struggles at the wrong end of the Dutch Eredivisie.
The Irish midfielder, 19, was named in that league’s team of the week for the last round of matches, and this week he put his side ahead against Heracles with a superb long range strike.
Unfortunately Cambuur could not hang on to their lead, and their 3-1 defeat saw them sink to the very foot of the table. At least you can check out Jack’s goal on You Tube – it’s about 45 seconds into the clip below.
Ian Lawlor’s Bury made the very short journey to Rochdale for a Lancashire derby, but the City goalkeeper will prefer to forget his visit to Spotland. Bury slipped to a 3-0 defeat, and are now in 15th place in League One.
Seko Fofana saw action in both of Bastia’s Ligue 1 outings over the last week. The midfielder played all 90 minutes of the 0-0 draw with Nantes, and then came off the bench for the entire second half of the 2-1 defeat by Lille on Saturday.
Belgian defender Jason Denayer played in all of Galatasaray’s 1-1 with Genclerbirligi, but the result means the Turkish club are without a win in three and currently one spot outside the European places.
And back to where we started in the \Netherlands, where striker Enes Unal scored in NAC Breda’s 5-0 rout of OSS. This Eerste Divisie clash also saw midfielder Divine Naah, a graduate of the Right To Dream academy in Ghana, feature for the first 71 minutes until the 19 year-old was substituted with the win in the bag.
