Silva has won 106 caps to date for his country and is ninth in the all-time appearances list – though he has some way to go to catch leader Iker Casillas who has won an incredible 167 caps to date.
Interestingly, Silva is the fifth top scorer in Spain’s history with 28 goals so far – not bad for a creative midfielder who makes plenty of goals for others.
David Villa leads the way on 59, followed by Raul on 44, Fernando Torres on 38 and Fernando Hierro on 29.
City fans have long been aware about Silva’s creative genius for the Blues for whom he has made 275 appearances and scored 44 goals in the six years he’s been at the Club.
Closing in on 200 Premier League games for City (he is currently on 196), Silva has created 59 goals for his team-mates to date – not including domestic or European cup matches.
On Tuesday evening, City’s No.21 will possibly face Etihad team-mates Raheem Sterling and John Stones as England host Spain at Wembley.
The high-profile friendly will be Silva’s third appearance against England.
He missed Spain’s 2-0 win in November 2015 through injury, but played in the 1-0 Wembley defeat in 2011.
While with Valencia, Silva also featured in the 2009 clash with the Three Lions, replacing David Villa as a 56th minute substitute as Spain beat Fabio Capello’s side 2-0.
Silva’s first game against England was in February 2007 when Andres Iniesta’s 63rd-minute goal was enough to give Spain a 1-0 win at Old Trafford.
Nolito could also be in line for some game time at Wembley after sitting out Spain’s 4-0 win over Macedonia last week.
