The Ivorian, starting his first Premier League game of the season, produced a brilliant display, opening the scoring with a powerful shot in the first half, before tapping home the winner with just seven minutes remaining to seal the win.
Liverpool’s goalless draw away at Southampton means City are now dead level with the Merseysiders on points and goal difference – and Toure believes a repeat of the testing 2014 title race could be on the cards.
“To be honest, I just want to help the team and make the team succeed,” he said. “City have been involved in the title race all year and I think we have to keep going because of the other teams around us.
“My prediction is that it will be like 2014. Fighting until the end and we have to continue to keep going.
“Some games aren’t going to be beautiful but we have to deliver because we have quality players who can score important goals in the last minute. I’m very delighted for the team and the three points were deserved.”
Palace, who were struggling for form before kick-off, gave City a difficult afternoon, with Connor Wickham’s equaliser after 66 minutes making it a tense affair.
It was Toure who proved the difference - but he says his side had to battle to get the three points.
“We know some times we have to fight to win games and this game today was tough,” he said. “Before the game, Crystal Palace were in trouble and they wanted to put in a good performance in front of their fans.
“I’m really happy for the three points and for the lads because today, we’ve fought here.”
