Brazilian midfielder Fernando has joined Galatasaray from Manchester City on a permanent deal.

He joined the Blues in the summer of 2014 from Porto and went on to make 101 appearances for the Club over a three-year period, scoring four times, including City’s 1000th Premier League goal, a close-range effort against West Brom in March 2015.

He helped City to League Cup success in 2016, playing five times en route to the trophy, including 76 minutes of the final at Wembley against Liverpool.

Often seen as an important figure in Champions League matches, the extra protection he offered the back four was key to City reaching the semi-finals of Europe’s elite competition for the first time in 2016.

Reflecting on his time at City, Fernando said: “It’s been a pleasure to play for Manchester City.

“The Club has looked after me incredibly well throughout my time here and I have enjoyed the challenge of playing for a top team in probably the world’s toughest league.

“The League Cup success of 2016 was a highlight for me and something I will never forget.”

City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, added: “Fernando has been an excellent servant for City. He is a dedicated professional and a player who has made a significant contribution throughout his time here.

“I am sure he will continue to prove his quality for years to come.”

Everyone at City would like to wish Fernando well on the next phase of his career.
