Pep Guardiola has made four changes to the Manchester City side that drew with Everton on Monday night for this afternoon’s game away at Bournemouth.

Benjamin Mendy makes his long-awaited debut after recovering from a thigh injury. The Frenchman, signed from Monaco in the summer, is one of Europe’s most highly-rated full-backs and will bring drive and energy to City’s left-hand side.

Bernardo Silva comes in for his full debut, and Raheem Sterling, whose second-half introduction changed the course of Monday’s game so dramatically, is also in from the start.

Danilo, another who made a big impact against Everton, also comes into the side, with John Stones dropping to the bench.

It’s another attacking line-up from Pep Guardiola.

CityXI: Ederson, Danilo, Kompany, Otamendi, Mendy, Fernandinho, Sterling, De Bruyne, Silva, Bernardo, Jesus

Subs: Bravo, Stones, Aguero, Mangala, Delph, Sane, Toure

Formation

It looks as though Guardiola has moved to a back four, having utilised a back three throughout pre-season and in City’s first two Premier League matches of the season, with a 4-1-4-1 formation making a return.

Danilo and Mendy will be expected to get forward from full-back, with Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi paired at centre-half.

Fernandinho is the midfield anchor, with his protection in front of the back four key. David Silva, Bernardo, Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling will be given freedom to create, with Gabriel Jesus leading the line.
