Maurizio Sarri – Enjoyed a modest amateur playing career, which he combined with his day job as a banker. This continued in the early part of his managerial career, before he decided to go full-time with it in 1999.
Took over his home town club in 2015 and has guided them to second and third place Serie A finishes in his two seasons in charge.

Diego Maradona’s former club reached the Champions League Round of 16 last season. Alongside Benfica, Besiktas and Dynamo Kyiv, they topped Group B, before being eliminated by Real Madrid eliminated in a 6-2 aggregate defeat.

Dries Mertens (34). The Belgian winger netted 28 times in the league, one behind Edin Dzeko in the Serie A scoring charts. He hit a further five goals in Europe.
European history
The Maradona-inspired Light Blues lifted the UEFA Cup in 1989, but in the Champions League they have never gone beyond the last 16.
They beat Nice 4-0 on aggregate in the qualifying rounds to secure their spot in this year’s competition.

A 3-1 away win at Verona was followed by a repeat result at home to Atalanta, which leaves the Naples outfit third in Serie A.*
City links
The two sides previously met in the 2011/12 group stage. Mario Balotelli scored away in Naples as City lost 2-1, while Aleks Kolarov netted at the Etihad Stadium in a 1-1 draw.

Where is Stadio San Paolo?
Found in the western suburb of Fuorigrotta, Stadio San Paolo is located less than seven kilometres from the city centre of Naples.
What’s the stadium like?
Opened in 1959, it has a capacity of 60,240, which makes it the third largest stadium in Italy. It has two tiers and an athletics track around the perimeter of the pitch.
Transport links
Naples International Airport is a 25-minute drive to the stadium and even closer to the city centre.
On arrival in Italy, the ground is accessible by both train and tram.
Napoli Campi Flegrei train station is a five-minute walk from Stadio San Paolo, while on the tram, Line 2 drops you off at Campi Flegrei and Mostra, which are both nearby.
