Formation
City will almost certainly adopt their normal 4-1-4-1 formation against United.
It is the tactic that has worked so well this season so there’s no reason to believe there will be any shift in the system.
United will look to stop the service to Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling as well as snuff out any short passes and one-twos on the edge and around the box.
While the Blues are likely to dominate possession, the hosts will no doubt look to counter-attack with speed and catch City on the break.
Against Arsenal, the Reds had just 25% possession, yet still won 3-1.
Record-breaking day?
Both Manchester clubs will look to extend impressive records this afternoon.
City have won eight Premier League games in a row on the road and have a 100% away record this campaign, while United are 40 games unbeaten at Old Trafford - and also have a 100% home record this term.
The last defeat for the Reds came when City won 2-1 in 2016 – Jose Mourinho’s only home loss as United manager.
The Blues are also looking to set a new record for successive Premier League wins in a single season having already equalled the 13-match record held by Chelsea and Arsenal. The Gunners hold the over all record of 14 wins on the bounce, set over two different seasons.
City have won nine and drawn one of the last 10 Premier League away trips.
