The midfielder joined the Blues in the summer from Melbourne City and was immediately loaned to Huddersfield, who City play in the FA Cup fifth round this weekend.
Mooy cannot play against his parent Club but has impressed for the Yorkshire side this season – and Guardiola, who has been following his progress closely, says he could be brought back to City ahead of next season if he continues his good form.
“So, Aaron Mooy is playing amazing this season and we are glad at that,” he said. “It is not easy coming from Australia and going to the Championship and play as good as he is.
“We are going to consider what will happen at the end of the season but it’s good. Huddersfield right now is in a big moment, playing really well, big results in the last minutes, a lot of confidence.
“Yesterday was a rugby game on their stadium so you can imagine the condition of the pitch.
“But this is a final for us, of course. The Cup there is no second chance.
“Playing away against Championship team in this competition is always complicated but we are prepared to fight and go to the quarter-finals.”
Meanwhile, Guardiola refused to be drawn on whether Claudio Bravo would return to the side for the game with Huddersfield.
The City boss has used a rotation policy for goalkeepers in domestic cup competitions and with Willy Caballero having started the last four matches, Bravo could be set to come back in on Saturday.
But Guardiola says he is yet to make a final decision.
“I am going to decide tomorrow,” he said.
