The 33-year-old signed for City in 2010 and has played an integral role in the Club’s rise, helping them to two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two League Cups - but he isn’t fully satisfied just yet.
City have a chance to cut Chelsea’s lead at the top of the table to eight points when they travel to Bournemouth on Monday night and remain in contention for the FA Cup and the Champions League.
Toure says he will do everything he can to ensure success this season, something he feels the City supporters deserve.
“With the players we have, winning is the most beautiful thing that can happen,” he said. “For those fans who’ve been there for a long, long time and have seen City come close to United and Chelsea, I think it’s something special and that’s why I want to give more trophies back to the fans.
“We’re looking forward. We still have competitions coming. The Champions League, the FA Cup and we’re going to try to do our best for those guys who come to watch and enjoy football.
“My mentality is always like that. I try, at the end of the season, to lift a trophy - it’s one of the most beautiful things that can happen to me.
“I’ve been at this club for a long time. I know what winning means and I know what it means to lift a trophy at the end of the season.
“I always have the desire all season because when we don’t achieve something it’s always difficult.
“I was very happy with the performance of the team against Swansea and we have to keep going like that.”
Toure is widely considered to be the most important signing in the Club’s recent history, with his ability to score goals on the big occasions ensuring his place in the pantheon of City greats is secure.
It’s been a wonderful period for the Ivorian, who says he has enjoyed the challenge of helping City to their current position as one of English football’s strongest sides.
“My time here has been great,” he said. “My mentality has always been the same. I always enjoy it.
“The plan of this club in the beginning was to try to get players to win, to change the Club into a winning machine like Manchester United or Barcelona.
“That’s what made me decide to come here because what the Club was trying to do was bring in big players - winning players.
“It’s nice when you have to win week in, week out. It’s brilliant and I feel happy when I’m winning because I don’t like losing.”
Toure has been in sensational form in recent weeks, operating in a deeper role than he has done for much of his time at the Etihad Stadium.
His superb range of passing has helped City keep possession of the ball and he has offered protection to the back four.
It’s a role he’s familiar with, having played there for Barcelona before signing for City, and he says he’s happy to play anywhere Pep Guardiola asks him to.
“I played for Barcelona four of five years ago in a deeper position so I know what to do,” he said.
“I’ve been able to play in defence, in midfield, as a striker. If the manager asked me to play as a goalkeeper I’m capable of that too!
“I just try to enjoy the game and try to give my experience to the young players.”
