City may have been hugely impressive in the course of their 4-1 win over Real Madrid, but new goalkeeper Ederson still had plenty to do against the reigning European champions.
And the Brazilian didn’t let his team-mates down, producing a string of impressive saves to deny Zinedine Zidane’s men.
It was a hugely encouraging performance that will have done wonders for the 23-year-old’s confidence as he adapts to life with a new club and in a new country.
The fact that he also possesses a howitzer of a goal kick - one gargantuan effort against Real travelled more than 70 yards - was the icing on the cake and added to the sense of excitement about Ederson’s huge potential.
2Diamond Diaz dazzles
In City’s US Tour opener against Manchester United it was Phil Foden who grabbed all the headlines but against the might of Madrid, it was another 17-year-old youngster - Brahim Diaz - who lit up the west coast of America.
Fittingly enough, the Spanish teenager produced a pure Hollywood strike against the European champions at the LA Coliseum to underline his thrilling potential.
It was also a timely clarion call to the 93,000 fans present - not to mention the many millions watching worldwide - that City possess a number of thrilling young prospects to supplement their phalanx of superstars.
Diaz humbly played down his performance after the game, but there is no doubt his assured display only augurs well for the Spanish attacking midfielder’s future prospects at the club.

Whatever Kevin De Bruyne has done in his summer down-time, it has clearly worked!
The Belgian midfielder has shone bright in City’s first two games of their American tour, and a superlative display against the Spanish giants drew handsome praise from Pep Guardiola after Wednesday’s 4-1 win.
It was another reminder, if any were needed, that when KDB hits top gear, City’s engine room tends to be a force to be reckoned with.
And it reinforced the fact that for all the justifiable excitement generated by the Club’s summer signings, there is already plenty of genuine blue chip quality packed into Pep’s midfield armada.
4Goalden vision
It’s rare that City score four goals but Sergio Aguero doesn’t find the scoresheet.
But the fact that Argentine legend was scoreless against Real shouldn’t be a matter of concern for Kun or his team-mates.
The fact that the goals were shared out between central defensive duo Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones, along with wingman Raheem Sterling and youngster Braham Diaz, proved that City possess firepower throughout their ranks.
It’s also a stat that should give City fans genuine cause for optimism and one that should also send a shiver across the ranks of City’s rivals collective defences.
The message is that even if Aguero doesn’t find the target, Guardiola possesses plenty of other lethal weapons.
