The two sides played out a thrilling first leg clash, which saw the Blues victorious with a 5-3 win.
With both sides admired for their attacking prowess, Sagna expects a similarly entertaining encounter on Wednesday night.
“Both teams are built to attack,” he said. “It will be exciting, as the first leg was.
“It’s true: our way of play is to attack. Monaco are very dangerous also in attack. It is possible to see an exciting game.
“Monaco have already won a lot of games at home against strong teams like PSG in Ligue 1. They have played good games here. Wednesday won’t be different - they will try to attack and score goals.
“As a defender, it is never pleasing to concede goals. I was upset after the first leg that we conceded three goals. I cannot be happy with that.
“It shows the spirit of Monaco. They create a lot of chances to score goals and they have a lot of quality. They are a strong team but we have already shown we have a lot of quality too. Wednesday will be a big game.”
Sagna added Pep Guardiola’s men are optimistic of their chances of progression, though wary of Monaco’s threats.
“We are confident for tomorrow,” he continued. “We will play against a great team with very strong players. We have also our strengths and we are used to playing big games in the Premier League every week, so I don’t think it will be a problem.”
Sagna reserved praise for teammates John Stones, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane, declaring he has been impressed with all three.
“Stones is very young, of course, and very talented,” he stated. “That’s the reason he joined City.
“He is part of the England national team. He hasn’t shown his best potential yet but he is doing well. It is never easy when you come to a new team but he is doing well.
“I play with Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane every day. I see them progressing and how important they are for the team. They have great potential.”
Monaco’s highly-rated teenager Kylian Mbappé was on the scoresheet in the meeting at the Etihad Stadium.
When asked of the forward’s threat, Sagna replied: “Mbappe is a very good player.
“Now he is compared with Thierry Henry - he plays a bit like him. He is young but if he continues to improve like this, he will play for the national team for sure.
“I see Monaco playing and I see the potential they have. They play with freedom - it’s just amazing.”
