David Silva believes Man City are clicking into top gear at just the right time following Sunday’s impressive 2-0 Premier League win away at Sunderland.

Goals from Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane secured a fourth straight league win for Pep Guardiola’s men, and a 10th league win away from home this season,  and lifted the Blues up into third place in the table.

City are now unbeaten in nine games in all competitions and with crucial league, FA Cup and Champions League fixtures all looming over the next 10 days, Silva says City have hit a rich vein of form as the season enters its business end.

“We have to believe,” said the Spanish midfielder.

“We know the last two or three months are the most important part of season.

“We’re in a good moment.”

Immediately after the final whistle, Guardiola was seen animatedly talking over the game with Silva as the pair left the field.

And Silva – who was again captain for the day - says the City manager’s quest to help his players to keep improving is just what he and his colleagues need as they push for success on three fronts.

“We need that,” Silva added. “To keep the intensity high.

“He’s always behind us and pushing us. It’s good for the team and you have to do that.”
