The Spanish midfielder joined City in 2010 and has won a clean-sweep of domestic honours during his seven-year stay but is yet to taste European success at Club level.
And as the City squad prepare for Wednesday’s crucial game against Napoli in Group F of this season’s competition, Silva says winning the Champions League is his number one priority.
“It would be amazing,” he said. “I pray every night to win the Champions League with City. Hopefully we can win this year.
“We are playing really good football - beautiful football.
“We are playing well in all the lines. From the goalkeeper on, you can see it in every game.”
Silva has operated in a free role in the centre of the City midfield this season and has once again excelled.
He tops the Premier League’s assists chart with six and is fourth on the list of completed passes.
Silva says it’s an ideal position for him to maximise his qualities.
“I think this is a good position for me,” he said. “I love to play in the middle, to be in contact with the ball all the time.
“You have to be involved in the play all the time so i am enjoying playing in that position.”
And Blues fans everywhere will be pleased to know he wants to stay at City for years to come.
“We are still talking [about a new contract],” he said. “I hope I can sign soon as i would love to be playing for City in 10 years”
Meanwhile, manager Pep Guardiola has praised Silva’s contribution since he took over in the summer of 2016.
The Catalan boss, an exponent of high-intensity, passing football, believes Silva is key to the way he wants City to play.
“I believe it is impossible to play good if the ball doesn.t pass in the middle,” Guardiola said.
“David is a master. He sits here and seems shy but he goes on the pitch with a huge personality.
“He is a legend for the club.
“It would have been amazing to have taken him at Barcelona but he was too expensive!”
