City have scored 22 goals in their last five games, and Saturday’s 5-0 win over Crystal Palace saw them become the first side since Blackburn Rovers in 1958-59 to score 5+ goals in three consecutive top-flight matches in the same season.
And the Brazilian midfielder, who played for Shakhtar between 2005-13, says the Ukrainian side will attack when they arrive at the Etihad this week.
“We all know they have play attacking football,” he said. “There’s a lot of Brazilian players in their squad.
“Every year they fight for the title over there and in the Champions League they try to play in the same way they play in their domestic league.
“We have to be prepared for that because they are a dangerous team. They’re full of good players.
“They like to play technical football - so it will be a great game on Tuesday.
“I had great times over there with my team-mates and the fans. It will be nice to see them all again.”
City remain unbeaten this season after eight matches and have already scored 27 goals in all competitions.
Pep Guardiola has plenty of options to choose from in the final third, with City a frightening prospect going forward.
There’s now a ruthlessness in attack previously absent, and Fernandinho admits he can’t pinpoint why.
“We’ve changed since last year,” he said.
“Then we created so many chances to score goals but didn’t score.
“Now we are creating so many - and this year we are scoring them.
“I’m not the specialist to talk about that but I’m so happy that we are scoring them.”
