Some of our most popular former players have sent their congratulations after the Blues were confirmed as Premier League champions on Sunday evening.

City favourites have been sending their congratulatory messages following today’s confirmation of the Premier League title.

We’ll update this story over the next 24 hours, but in the meantime, here are among the first to send their best wishes…

Club legend and former captain Pablo Zabaleta, now with West Ham, said: “I’d like to send my congratulations to everyone at City – my former team-mates, the staff and of course the City fans who made my stay at the Club and unforgettable experience. The Club will always be in my heart and I’m so happy for everybody. Enjoy the celebrations!”

Academy graduate Micah Richards who played 245 times for the Blues between 2005-2014 and is now with Aston Villa said: “Absolutely sensational! One of the greatest Premier League sides of all times and I couldn’t be happier for my former Club. A great day for the Blues!”

Joleon Lescott, twice a Premier League winner with City said: “What an achievement. City have dominated the league throughout the season. With the continued fantastic support of the fans, it has been a hugely enjoyable campaign. Enjoy it everyone, you deserve it!” 

MCFC Player of the Year 2001/02 and midfield genius Ali Benarbia added: “Congratulations to City for an unforgettable season and I love my favourite former club!”

Lifelong Blue Nedum Onuoha, who spent more than a decade with City and is now skipper at QPR said: “Congratulations to the new Champions of England! Never in my lifetime has a side deserved it more. The style of football we have had the pleasure of watching this season has been a real joy.

“Not just for the fans of the Club but real football fans worldwide. And I for one feel real pride in calling myself a supporter. I hope you really enjoy what you’ve achieved and achieve even greater things in the future.”

City winger Patrick Roberts, currently on loan at Celtic said: “I’d like to congratulate City! It is well deserved after the season they’ve had. They’ve been unstoppable!”

Capital One Cup hero Willy Caballero, now with Chelsea, said: “Congratulations to City for the magnificent Premier League campaign this year. I’m very happy for my friends and the team-mates I left behind as well as the physios and all the staff who work for the team. The trophy is well deserved and congratulations again on being the champions.”

Former City striker Uwe Rosler, who’s son Colin is at the Academy said: “Congratulations to the players, staff, leaders and the owners but most importantly, to the loyal supporters. The whole season has been a victory for ‘beautiful football’ performed by a great group of players and orchestrated by a special manager!”

Shaun Goater, whose goals helped propel the Blues back to the top flight added: “Congratulations to the guys who brought in Pep Guardiola, the players and of course the City fans. Congratulations to Pep, who has elevated the way we play and won the Premier League with such style. I couldn’t be happier!”
