Benjamin Mendy has been named in Manchester City’s EDS side for this evening's game against Manchester United as he steps up his recovery from injury.

The French defender, who joined City from Monaco last summer, ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the 5-0 win over Crystal Palace in September in only his fifth appearance for the Club.

He underwent successful surgery a few days later in Barcelona under the watchful eye of Dr Ramon Cugat, before resuming light training in March.

But he is now ready to return to competitive action, starting at the Academy Stadium against Manchester United as Simon Davies’ side look to return to winning ways after losing to West Ham last time out.
