The skipper, in his tenth campaign with the Blues and now officially our most successful captain of all time, was ecstatic after the news broke that City had won the title following United’s shock home defeat to West Brom.
The Belgian will enjoy his third Premier League title lift in seven years.
“As much as this has been a record breaking season, this one’s for you, the fans, this is why we do it!” said the skipper.
“Come on City! Champions! I’m buzzing, over the moon, so happy and proud to be able to share this with all of our fans, everybody who’s been there to support us especially in this last week as many know it’s been very difficult but at the same time we’ve bounced back, we’re champions now and thank you to all of you, It’s an incredible season.”
Asked how it felt to be part of another title-winning squad, he added: “Yeah, its special, I’m privileged to be part of such a great group, great players, good guys, good mentality, good atmosphere in the team, every single time I’m on the pitch I enjoy it.
“There’s nothing better. Long may it continue and hopefully, every single Cityzen around the world parties for us tonight.”
Kompany, at home in Manchester, revealed many of his team-mates had flown off for mini-breaks to see family and friends after being given three days off.
He said: “Yes, there’s players all over the world Portugal, Spain - you name it – wherever. We didn’t expect this, we’ve been Facetiming, talking on the chat and everyone is in touch and as much as we’re far away from each other at this moment in time, we are still very close, and we will somehow spend the night celebrating together.
“People are asking whether we are the best Premier League side in history, but the answer is no, because we have a lot of work to still do.
“But in our defence, we can only be judged on a period of time, so we need, two, three or four years in a row and if at the end of this we are consistent like we have been this season, then perhaps but we have taken one step, that all we can do at the moment.”
And of the three title-winning celebrations he’s taken part in, Kompany said: “The first title was the biggest event ever for the Club, for our fans and enabled us to build to what we are doing today.
“Today is a sense of achievement because we’ve won the title in a way for the first time, I’d like to have won all other titles, so I’m extremely proud about this, and extremely aware of how fast these moments can go.
“As much as I’m going to celebrate today, I’m going to see if any of the lads are still up for it on Wednesday for us to have a good training session and build up to the next games as well.
“Just one more time, come on City! Champions!”
