Pep Guardiola described his Manchester City players as “incredible” after a superb 3-1 win at Tottenham put us on the brink of the Premier League title.

City need just one more win – or a defeat for second-placed Manchester United in their game with West Brom tomorrow – to be confirmed as champions after a fine display at Wembley that saw us complete the double over Mauricio Pochettino’s side in style.

It was a wonderful performance that brought to an end a three-match losing streak and Guardiola could not hide his delight afterwards.

“After what happened this week, to come here and play Tottenham in London, one of the best teams with one of the best managers and play the way we did…after 15 minutes, I said we will be champions,” Guardiola said.

“These guys are fantastic, awesome - they are incredible.

“The last week was unfair - but now we have a chance and we are going to try and be champions.”

All eyes will be on Old Trafford tomorrow to see if United slip up against West Brom.

But should they take points off the bottom-placed Baggies, it means City’s next chance to seal the title is on Saturday at home to Swansea.

Guardiola is so confident of a United victory that he will be on the golf course enjoying some down time with friends and family and says he can’t wait to have the opportunity to become champions in front of our own fans next weekend.

“No [I won’t be watching United] I have golf game,” he said.

“I have three days off and tomorrow I have golf.

“Golf, my son, friends - tomorrow is golf. I will be happy but I think United will win. We depend on us.

“The important thing is to have the chance to win at home. I am delighted to have the chance to win in front of our people.”
