In a season of remarkable achievements for Pep Guardiola’s champions, it is also the earliest stage in a campaign that a team has reached that incredible landmark since Everton way back in 1931/32.
Strikes from Leroy Sane, a Pablo Zabaleta own goal, Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho helped rubber-stamp another wonderful performance from Pep’s side. The mark means City are the only Club to score 100 goals in a Premier League season twice, following the tally in 2013/14.
And with three matches of the Premier League campaign still remaining, City, who have now notched up 102 goals this campaign, are set to overhaul Chelsea’s tally of 103 goals recorded in 2009/10 to register the biggest-ever number of goals in a season.
The victory at the London Stadium was also City’s 30th league triumph of the season – equalling the all-time record set by Chelsea last season.
What’s more it also equalled Chelsea’s Premier League record of 15 away victories in a single campaign.
And in a season of notable milestones, City are also poised to break two other notable landmarks.
Currently on 93 points, we are now within just three points of breaking Chelsea’s points tally of 95, which the Stamford Bridge club set in the 2004/5 season.
At present, 16 points ahead of second-placed Manchester United, City could also yet set a new record for the biggest title-winning margin.
The current record stands at 18 which was established by United in 1999/2000.
