The teenage midfielder set up Sergio Aguero’s opening goal - his 200th for the Club - with a fine assist and produced a wonderful all-round performance at Wembley.
Foden made a number of encouraging cameo first team performances last season which earned him a Premier League winners medal.

“He was ready last season. Now he is one year on, he is more mature,” said Guardiola.
“He was training last season with us and he fought well with all of our players.
“It is so good to have another player with his talent. He’s a City fan - and Mancunian and it is so good for us.”Foden’s display was just one of many highlights for Pep with Aguero’s brace taking him past 200 career goals for the club, summer signing Riyad Mahrez impressing on his competitive debut and Bernardo Silva also catching the eye as the FA Cup winners were overcome.
And having only had a limited time to work with the bulk of his first team squad, Guardiola said he was more than satisfied with how his players performed on what was an energy-sapping sun-drenched afternoon at Wembley.
“We started well and played the level of last season with just five or six training sessions,” the City manager added.
“The mentality was in the right position. It’s our third year so most of the things we practice we know, not like when you arrive.

“We have to play with this attitude and what we have done. We’ll see at the end of the season what our level was.
“When you win, you’re happy.
“We don’t have to think too much about defending the title. That was the first game - we have to prepare game by game.
“In April and May, we will know. The result will show who we are. We’re not talking about having to win the Premier League title.”
