12010/11 MCFC Player of the Year
A season of excellence from the Belgian was rewarded with the MCFC Supporters’ Player of the Year for 2010/11. With 50 appearances, Kompany was a huge presence throughout what proved to be a fantastic and historic campaign for the Blues.
22011 Wembley derby joy
With captain Carlos Tevez injured, Roberto Mancini turned to Vincent Kompany to lead out the team at Wembley for a first historic FA Cup semi-final Manchester derby against United at the national stadium.
Kompany rose to the challenge, kept Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov relatively quiet and almost scored the opening from a corner.
Yaya Toure drove home the winner and City, led by the Belgian captain, held firm to reach a first FA Cup final since 1981.

3Champions League qualification
City had never qualified for the UEFA Champions League prior to the 2010/11 campaign, despite coming mightily close the season before.
Kompany cut a determined figure as he led City out against the side who snatched the final Champions League berth away at the last second in 2010 – Tottenham.
By a quirk of fate, City again went head-to-head with Spurs for the fourth spot and UCL qualification exactly a year later.
Peter Crouch has won the game for Spurs 12 months before and, ironically, it was Crouch who score the only goal in this game – only in his own net. Kompany superbly marshalled the defence and the 1-0 gave the Blues a ticket to the Champions League.
4 Installed as skipper
It was an easy choice for Roberto Mancini to hand the captain’s armband to Kompany on a permanent basis.
It had happened through the 2010/11 campaign but was made official in time for the following season and nobody could have been prouder.
He would play 42 times in all competitions and was at his inspirational best throughout…
52012 Winner versus United
As the commentary said, “Cometh the hour, cometh the man!”
With three games to go, City knew a win would vault them above United and mean further wins over Newcastle and QPR would seal a first title for 44 years.
The Blues dominated but as half-time approached, United held on at 0-0.
David Silva’s corner missed Joleon Lescott but waiting just behind was Kompany to thump a header past Edwin Van der Sar and send the Etihad Stadium into raptures.
It was to be the only goal of the game and it just had to be Kompany who scored it.
62012 Premier League trophy lift
Two games after the epic derby win over United, City were crowned top flight champions for the first time in 44 years.
Kompany, revelling in the moment, became the first Blues captain to lift the Premier League trophy and the first captain since Tony Book to skipper a title-winning City side.
His first full season as captain – coincidence? No chance.
72014 Premier League trophy lift and goal v West Ham
City needed a win to confirm a second Premier League title on three years.
Liverpool, who had blown a comfortable lead at the top, had imploded somewhat and the Blues knew a point was all that was needed to be crowned champions of England.
Samir Nasri gave City the lead with a fine long-range drive before the break and - yet again – it was Kompany who popped up from close range to seal victory in the second-half and ensure the home fans could enjoy the time that remained.

82012 Longest contract
In July 2012, with two years of his current deal still remaining, City secured the Belgian leader’s services until 2020 by agreeing a six-year extension.
It was the longest contract in the Club’s history and a statement from the management and Club owners that it was Vincent Kompany City wanted to lead the Blues into a glittering new era.
92018 Wembley goal and trophy lift
He had played at Wembley with City many times before, but this was his first goal.
Kompany doubled City’s lead after the break to make it 2-0 against Arsenal.
He also made a superb tackle on Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and carried off the man-of-the-match award.

102018 Third title lift
Though he managed to play in just under half the 2017/18 Premier League fixtures, when he did play he was never less than excellent.
His consistency levels and leadership has never wavered throughout his decade with the club and he enjoyed the 2017/18 season as much as any member of the squad.
It was fitting that he – City’s greatest and most successful captain – should lift the most coveted trophy in the English football for a third time.
