If City can keep a shut-out at Stamford Bridge this evening, it will mean the champions have kept clean sheets against Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool, preventing them from scoring on their own turf this campaign.
Adding Chelsea will mean all our challengers have failed to break down a resolute and watertight defence in their own stadiums.
It would be an incredible achievement and one that would have historians leafing through the record books to see if it’s ever been done before.
2 Blues looking to make it 15 without loss
City are unbeaten in 14 Premier League away games and a win or draw at Stamford Bridge will equal the current Club record of 15.
The Blues have won five and drawn two of the seven away games this season, scoring 15 goals and conceding two.
Chelsea are also on an unbeaten run this campaign as well - at home - with five wins and three draws from their eight games played,
It was only recently that they were one of three unbeaten sides at the top of the table, so this is undoubtedly one of the champions’ toughest tests this campaign.
3 Hazard ahead?
Chelsea have a team packed with quality, but Eden Hazard remains their talisman.
If the Belgian is at his best, he is capable of hurting any team on the planet, so the Blues will look to keep possession and keep the ball away from Hazard as much as possible.
If Hazard sees too much of the ball, City will be under threat each time he is in the final third – not many players have the vision and ingenuity to unpick one of the Premier League’s meanest back fours – but the diminutive Chelsea star is one of them.
4 Mahrez to retain place?
Tomorrow’s team selection will be interesting.
It’s hard to imagine Raheem Sterling not returning to the starting XI and if so, Riyad Mahrez or Leroy Sane may have to miss out.
The trouble is, both have been excellent of late with Mahrez scored one and made an assist at Watford and Sane opened the scoring at Vicarage Road on the back of a starting role against Bournemouth.
It’s a tough decision and Pep may well find a way to accommodate them both – who’d be a manager?
