Pep Guardiola says it is too early to tell if Kevin De Bruyne will be available for Thursday’s crucial Premier League clash with Liverpool.

The Belgian midfielder, who recently returned to action after missing most of the first half of the season through two separate knee injuries, sat out today’s impressive 3-1 win away at Southampton.

Though the Blues manager revealed the problem wasn’t significant, he added it was too soon to tell if the Belgian would be fit for the eagerly-anticipated Etihad meeting with the Premier League leaders.

“I don’t know - today he was not able (to play),” said Guardiola.

“Not a big issue – something muscular - but it’s normal after three or four months injured.

“So demanding there are some problems.

“I cannot answer if he will be available for Thursday.

“We will see.”

The boss also provided an update on fellow midfielder Ilkay Gundogan who was also absent from today’s matchday squad.

“I think Gundogan (yeah) (will be fit),” Pep added.
