It was fitting that the three goalscorers had a combined 23.5 years of City service between them. Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva are etching their names ever deeper into City folklore and just keep producing the goods. Just as impressive as his goal was Kompany’s sprint to see off Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s threat in the second half. Aguero is having his best season ever in terms of goals scored at this stage of the campaigb. And Silva, what can you say? Brilliance is absolutely standard from him. Long may it continue!
2 Stunning Sergio
Sergio took his all time goal tally to 199 in a City shirt and there can have been few sweeter than this one. He used sheer power to hold his ground against the Gunners defence before lofting a beautifully controlled shot over David Ospina. That’s 30 for the season now for Sergio - the fourth time he has done that in his City career. It’s also the fifth consecutive game in which he has scored against Arsenal.

3 Honours list
The victory was City’s fifth in League Cup history, following successes in 1970, 1976, 2014 and 2016. It was also boss Pep Guardiola‘s first trophy as City manager and his third at Wembley following Champions League success as a player (1992) and manager (2011) with Barcelona.
4 Bravo, Claudio
City’s Chilean keeper was one of the star performers of City’s League Cup triumph. He twice helped City to shoot-out wins en route to the final before a fine performance at Wembley. He denied Aubameyang early on before supplying the assist for Aguero with a pinpoint through ball.
5 Jesus back
It was only a footnote to the game but in the context of City’s season it could prove to be a significant moment: Gabriel Jesus‘ return. The Brazilian striker stepped back onto the pitch after a lengthy spell out with a knee injury. And brilliant though Aguero has been during Jesus’ absence, City need as many players fit and firing as the season continues towards its climax.
