City fans already know Leroy Sane is one of the most exciting young wingers in European football.

The former Schalke star is likely to be one of the stars of the 2018 World Cup and having only turned 22 on 11 January, he has the world at his feet.

He is up on most of last season’s stats with only half of the current campaign played and Pep Guardiola believes Leroy will continue to get better and better.

But the City boss also says there is room to improve, just as there is for every player.

So, here are some impressive facts and figures that back up the German youngster…

12 Assists

Leroy’s Premier League assists for last season totalled just three, but this campaign he has already made nine league goals for his team-mates – that’s an improvement rate of 200%. Not bad! And with another three assists in other competitions, he has quadrupled that figure overall.

9 Goals

Leroy managed eight goals in all competitions last season – a figure he has already bettered this term. Currently on nine, he has equalled last year’s tally by the end of October before embarking on a run of 12 games without scoring. Don’t be surprised if ends the campaign closer to 20 goals.

34 Shots

With 34 shots this season, Leroy is one up on last season’s tally – but with just 13 on target (one down on last season), he will want to improve his accuracy. With a powerful shot and an excellent range of techniques, he will look to improve this figure which should result in more goals for the winger.

56 Crosses

Defenders may know what’s coming, bit when Leroy drops his left shoulder and skates past his marker, it’s almost impossible to stop. His assists total of 12 mean that just less than one in five of his crosses result in a goal.

11 Big chances created

Leroy has created 11 big chances for his team-mates so far that, had they been converted, would have put him on 23 assists for the season!

89 Duels won

Sane is averaging a 50/50 ration for the duels he is involved with – 90 have been unsuccessful, but that the nature of his game. He is on the left wing to attack and with the chance that he’ll get past the full-back every other go, Pep won’t be worried about the times he doesn’t beat his man so long as he continues to glide past as often as he is doing.

35.4 Fastest ever

Leroy recorded the fastest speed in Premier League history during City’s 1-0 win over Chelsea earlier in the season, when he was timed at 35.48 kilometres per hour. Jamie Vardy held the previous record, though Kyle Walker’s best is not far behind.
