The City boss pointed to the three quick goals conceded in nine minutes midway through the second half as the pivotal period of the game, and feels his team must learn from the way the game panned out.
“Congratulations Liverpool for the victory,” said Pep. “We didn’t start the way we wanted but we fought back, equalised and were much better at the start of the second half.
“The game was in our hands at that point for the first 15 to 20 minutes after the break, but after we conceded the second we needed to be stable and in that moment, we weren’t solid enough.
“We must learn from that – but we kept going and scored two more goals.
“The reality is we lost the game and you have to live with these situations during the course of the season and we are gong to try and make this feeling as short as possible.
“It is so difficult at Anfield and Liverpool play aggressive, attacking football with the crowd behind them and though we controlled the counter-attacks quite well, after the second goal the recovery wasn’t good.
“The Premier League season is long, and we must only think of the next game.
“There are still a lot of games to play and a lot of difficult matches ahead. We must be focused and, of course, we will defend our position.
“Now we have a week to recover and our focus is only on our next game against Newcastle.”
