There was late, late drama in day two’s other games as well.
An 89th minutes header from Jose Gimenez earned Uruguay a 1-0 win over Egypt in the opening encounter in Group A.
Then in Group B’s first match Iran left it even later before securing only their second-ever victory in World Cup finals history as a spectacular 95th minute own goal from Aziz Bouhaddouz earned the Iranians a 1-0 win over Morocco.
There are four matches today in what is the busiest day so far in the tournament and two matches in particular will really capture the imagination of City fans.
