His central midfield partnership with Andres Iniesta may be poised for a final tournament, they represent one of the greatest of any pairing in Russia.
Expect David to play his usual playmaker role alongside Iniesta and possibly Isco - presuming new coach Fernando Hierro continues with a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Spain are in Group B along with Morocco and Portugal.
International highlights: David was part of the 2010 Spain squad that won the World Cup so has been there, done that.
He has also won two European Championships in 2008 and 2012 - the latter being the last major title this golden generation of Spain players won.
Silva is the sixth most capped Spain player ever and the fourth top scorer.
Whether this is to be his last World Cup remains to be seen...
