Blues’ boss Pep Guardiola has been voted the Sir Alex Ferguson LMA Manager of the Year AND the Premier League Manager of the Season, sponsored by Barclays.

He becomes the first City manager to win either of these coveted awards with the League Managers Association Manager (LMA) of the Year awarded by fellow professional managers and regarded as the most prestigious managerial award in English football. The LMA vote for the manager takes in all aspects of management and rarely goes to the boss of the Premier League champions with Alan Pardew and Tony Pulis past winners.

Pep is only the sixth manager to win the vote and be manager of the top-flight champions.

The Premier League Manager of the Season was voted for by a panel of experts which include sponsors, journalists and former players and the managers.

The honours were bestowed on Pep at the Grosvenor Hotel, Park Lane, London for the LMA awards where the Blues boss has also been nominated for the prestigious Sir Alex Ferguson LMA Manager of the Year award, the winner of which will be announced later this evening.

Pep guided the Blues to an unforgettable, record-breaking campaign in the Premier League in only his second season in English football.

In recent years, Antonio Conte, Claudio Ranieri and Jose Mourinho have won the award, while nobody has won it more than Sir Alex Ferguson who has triumphed 11 times.

Pep is the first Catalan to land the award and the fourth overseas boss to be named Premier League Manager of the Season in succession.
