French teenager Claudio Gomes has been named as a substitute for Manchester City’s Carabao Cup fourth round clash with Fulham at the Etihad.

The 18-year-old French defensive midfielder joined City in the summer.

He moved to us from Paris Saint Germain, having made five appearances for the Ligue 1 champions’ Under-23 side in the UEFA Youth League last season.

The highly-rated teenager has also represented France at various youth levels and is the current captain of Les Bleus’ Under-18s team, having gained extensive international experience at Under-16 and Under-17s level too.

Claudio is quick, strong and an excellent tackler with great vision and energy.

After sealing his move to City in the summer, he featured for the first team on our summer tour to the United States after impressing in training, coming on as a substitute in the games against Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

And he has already won silverware with the Club this season, having made a late appearance as a substitute in our Community Shield win over Chelsea in August.

Since the start of the domestic season, Claudio has been furthering his development by becoming a key figure in the Club’s EDS squad and has also captained Paul Harsley’s side on a number of occasions.

And he could now get another chance to press his claims to manager Pep Guardiola this evening.
