Pep Guardiola’s side have made a fine opening to our defence of the Premier League title, winning six and drawing two of the first eight games.
Ahead of Saturday’s resumption of league action at home to Burnley, City are top of the table on goal difference, having accrued 20 points so far.
As with our record-breaking 2017/18 campaign, the manner of City’s commitment to attractive, attacking football has repeatedly caught the eye.

Guardiola had already spoken of his belief that his players are already improving on the form that made Premier League history last season.
And the numbers behind the Blues’ superb opening two months of action also make for impressive reading.
To date on league duty, the Blues have chalked up 21 goals – more than any other side in the top flight – and conceded just three. Again, the most impressive tally, along with Liverpool.
Furthermore, goalkeeper Ederson’s five clean sheets is also the best return recorded by a Premier League goalkeeper along with Liverpool’s Allison.
But it’s in going forward where City’s statistics really stand out.
The Blues have registered a Premier League best total of 174 shots from the first eight matches – including 65 which have been on target – and City currently boast an average of 2.63 goals per game.
And that figure could have been even higher given that the Blues have already hit the woodwork a staggering seven times this season.
It also comes as no surprise that City dominate the passing data too.

The Blues has so far chalked up a pass accuracy success rate of 90 percent – once again a Premier League best – with a total of 5,639 passes completed so far.
Individually too, several City players are leading the way in terms of their own impact on the Premier League.
Central defender Aymeric Laporte has been in imperious form for the Club all season, with his tactical awareness, passing acumen and all-round power constantly catching the eye.
And the French star’s comfort on the ball is amply illustrated by the fact he is currently second in the Premier League passing charts with 742 completed to date.
City’s dominance in that department is also recognized by the fact that midfielder Fernandinho and right-back Kyle Walker also both figure in the top ten for passing.
Assist wise, left-back Benjamin Mendy shares equal top billing with five other players, having already contributed four assists to date.
It also comes as no surprise to learn that all-time club record goal-scorer Sergio Aguero is currently second in the goal-scoring charts, having already hit the target five times in the league.
Having already gone past the 200 career goals tally for the club this season, the Argentine looks in prime position to carve out yet more history going forward.
