After the Blues and Chelsea were unable to be separated in normal and extra time with the sides goalless the game went to a penalty shoot-out.
And, Sterling showed nerves of steel to convert the decisive penalty after Ederson had saved from Jorginho and David Luiz had hit the post to secure a 4-3 win on spot-kicks.
It was our sixth League Cup triumph and meant we retain the trophy we won last year.
And Sterling couldn’t contain his delight… even if the boss missed his big moment!

“It’s a great feeling. I’m home, I’m at Wembley, in my city... it was a tough game but an amazing feeling. The boys were brilliant today,” said Raheem.
“I spoke to Leroy (before the penalty) and he said make sure that if I scored it was the winner. That was all the confidence I needed.
“Pep said he didn’t watch it - he said where did it go? I just told him ‘top bins’.
“Chelsea played a really good game today, they were solid, it was difficult to break them down but we kept focus and did the business.
“It’s one trophy down and now we just need to keep winning games and that’s it.”
