Kevin De Bruyne says Manchester City will not be deflected by outside pressure in what is proving one of the tightest Premier League title races in years.

The Blues overcame a dogged West Ham to record a vital 1-0 win at the Etihad thanks to Sergio Aguero’s second half penalty.

The victory kept City one point behind leaders Liverpool who beat Watford 5-0.

But rather than worry about results elsewhere, the midfielder says City will stay focused internally.

“We just need to look at ourselves,” said De Bruyne

“The schedule is so tough. We are there in every competition and playing well and winning so we just need to keep going.”

And as for feeling any title pressure, KDB added: “If you come here and don’t enjoy the pressure it’s better to leave!”

Pitted against a determined Hammers the Blues created numerous chances but were profligate and found visiting keeper Lukasz Fabianksi in inspired form.

But De Bruyne said the result was what was most important.

“The performance was good. I know people expect us to win every game 5-0 but we don’t care,” De Bruyne added.

“The most important thing is creating chances. Some ricocheted away, with the others the last pass wasn’t there, it happens but we won and that was important.

“We played two and half days ago, a hard game at Wembley, and we won again tonight

“In the first five minutes it could have been 3-0. We defended well but we just didn’t score.”

The victory was City’s 14th in our last 16 games and we will look to continue our winning run when we take on Bournemouth on Saturday 2 March.
