City have already played in front of enthusiastic crowds in both Nanjing and Shanghai in the Premier League Asia Trophy and the tour party has now moved on to Hong Kong, where we are preparing for Wednesday’s friendly against Kitchee FC.
At today’s pre-match press conference, the City boss reflected on the rich and rewarding experience of being on our Asia Tour, praising the squad and staff for their efforts.
And he said the first section of the tour in China had proved to be ‘amazing and unique.’

“We are delighted to be in China and in Asia and to enjoy the nice food especially and the attention!,” said the City boss.
“The players had an incredible time in Shanghai. They were committed in all connections with the people in China. We take care of the people at the hotel – all of them with signatures and pictures. All the people asking something, we are ready to do that.
“I know we came here as a unique experience. It’s not easy to come here during the season – to come to Asia. It’s a new culture, we go to the restaurants, meet the people. It’s amazing to travel and to know other people.
“Always, we have played quite well in the night and we have made good training sessions. All the guys, I been impressed with my players with what they have done so far and what they will do until the rest of the tour.
“For us, it’s a new experience every season. We want to help on the pitch – and we did it last season – and off the pitch. We want to let the people know what a good team and amazing Club we are.
“In Manchester, the weather for training is better. We were okay, perfect in Shanghai and in here. On Wednesday, we will try to enjoy a good game for both sides and for our spectators.
“We try to be better every season. I am proud of what we have done – all the marketing departments, all the people who built this tour. I’m pretty sure that we will come back to China.”
Asked about City’s ambitions for the coming campaign, Guardiola asserted the goal is always to strive for improvement.
“Always to play better, game by game,” he concluded. “The same that we had last season – make a good training session and play good everyday, and don’t look far away.
