The Belgian has not featured since suffering a hamstring injury in the 1-0 win over Tottenham, missing the triumphs at Manchester United and Burnley, and Guardiola admitted he does not know whether the midfielder will play again this season.
“I don’t know,” he stated. “For next Monday, he is not available.”

Guardiola was also asked of Fernandinho’s fitness with the Brazilian also absent from the trip to Turf Moor, having been forced off with a knee problem in the 2-0 win at Old Trafford.
“I don’t know,” he asserted. “I didn’t speak in the last days with the doctors.
“They started to go on the pitch to run. They are coming back soon.”
Two victories will secure consecutive Premier League titles for City, but Guardiola insists the Champions are not looking any further ahead than Monday night’s encounter and highlighted the areas in which he feels the Foxes threaten.
“From the beginning, you ask me about achievements but I think we have to focus on beating Leicester,” he said.
“They have quality and all we can do is focus on that.
“I expect them to high press and play on the counter-attack – they’re going to attack.
“I think it helps that Leicester play on the counter-attack. Now, with Brendan Rodgers, they control parts of the game so I think he has showed his quality as a manager.
“In two months, everyone has played how he wants them to play – the movement and positioning is well-coordinated. I was really impressed with how the players play.
“Up front, with Harvey Barnes and Demarai Gray, they’re so fast. They have incredible quality.
“Jamie Vardy has done incredible in this league – he is an incredible striker and his movement and finishing (is so good).
“Of course, it’s already a Final for us. Hopefully, on Monday, the fans can help us and we can do what we have to do and win the game.”
