Phil Foden was on target as the City striker helped inspire England's Under-21s to an impressive 3-0 Euro Under-21 qualifying win away in Albania.

The Blues teenager opened the scoring for the young Lions with a stunning free-kick in the 22nd minute and was almost on target again but was unlucky to see a fine 30-yard shot strike the post.

Foden then set up Conor Gallagher who doubled England’s lead on the stroke of half-time and Reiss Nelson then wrapped up a fine night’s work by claiming third goal in injury time.

England top Group C with four wins out of four and next play the Netherlands on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Rodri played the full 90 minutes of Spain’s 7-0 cruise past Malta.

Rodri didn’t get on the score-sheet, but former Blue Jesus Navas bagged the final goal of the evening for La Roj.

Elsewhere, both Nicolas Otamendi and Gabriel Jesus featured for Argentina and Brazil respectively as Argentina claimed a 1-0 friendly win in Saudi Arabia.

Lionel Messi pounced for the only game of the game scoring from the rebound after his penalty had been blocked by Alisson on 13 minutes with City striker Jesus being earlier unsuccessful with his own spot-kick.

Sergio Aguero was an unused substitute for La Albiceleste.
