The 18-year-old grandson of City legends Glyn Pardoe and the late, great Mike Doyle played the full 90 minutes against the Saints and produced an assured all-round display.
And as he reflected on the memorable experience, Doyle said he was living every fans’ dream in playing as part of Pep Guardiola’s star-studded side.
“I’m used to watching guys like Bernardo (Silva) and Phil (Foden) as a fan, so to play with them is fantastic… it means so much,” said the teenage midfielder.

“Guys like Bernardo, Phil and the other players… they make it easy for you.
“You give them the ball and keep it simple. You don’t need to overdo things.
“Being with them they give you a lot of information and make it easy.
“They have also shown me that it’s important to go out and work hard and let your football do the talking.”

Doyle and Co’s display helped take City another step further towards what would be a third successive Carabao Cup triumph.
And having savoured the taste of first team football, Doyle said the experience had made him hungry for more first team opportunities.
“I just want to listen and learn and from everyone here to keep pushing and developing,” the midfielder added.
“I’m going to keep working hard, keep listening to every bit of information from the staff and players
“And it’s definitely given me the hunger and taste to keep pushing on and learning.”
