Didi Hamann and Andreas Isaksson will resume training today as Stuart Pearce continues his preparations for Wednesday's game against Portsmouth.
Hamann picked up a foot injury on the pre-season trip to China, and Swedish goalkeeper Isaksson was forced to miss Sunday’s opening game of the season with a knock to his ankle.
“We are hoping that Didi will train today so we can see how his foot injury is. It’s the same with Andreas, we hope he can train today so we can assess how his ankle is,” said Pearce on Tuesday morning.
There were no other fitness problems reported from Sunday’s game at Chelsea as the Manager gave the status on the other current injuries in the squad:
“Nedum will probably be another couple of weeks, as will Sun Jihai. If we are realistic, Coley will also be another fortnight or so. Marc Laird’s strained a stomach muscle and will be out for about the same length of time.”
Bernardo Corradi has a one-match suspension following his sending-off at Stamford Bridge but he will be available again for Arsenal this Saturday, and the Manager was impressed with the Italian’s response to the ban.
“Because of his suspension we asked Bernardo if he just wanted to have a cool-down at the pool, but he said that he wanted to come in and train. That’s just the sort of spirit and professionalism that I wanted to buy into the club.”
